Good day everyone. I am new to MyNetDiary after being with MyFitnessPal for a very long time, due to them getting rid of any easy way to interact with friends, I decided to check out other platforms. I have been keto for about a year and two months, and have lost a bit over 90 pounds in that time. I am within 10 pounds of my goal weight, although I may change that goal when I get to it. I am looking to see what this platform is like, make some friends so we can support one another, and help in what ways I can.
I have been on the whole losing weight rollercoaster for a long time. I would lose weight, then put it back on. I was firmly set in the idea that one could lose weight and maintain it merely by counting calories. While it was true I could lose the weight, maintaining that loss was seemingly impossible for me.
Then a bit over a year back I received blood work results that had my HbA1C in the pre-diabetic range. Having seen how ineffective the standard approach to type 2 diabetes has been in many other peoples lives with the continued increase in medications and development of various secondary medical issues, I refused to go down that route, so I cut my carbs and went keto.
This was the best choice I could have made. Using the MySugr app I tracked my blood glucose for a month and in that time it dropped quickly. The estimated A1C from the app based on the data over that month put my A1C down into the normal range. That was confirmed several months later with I had new blood work done. The best part of all this, is I find it super easy to stick to. While many people may be able to stick to eating a more standard diet, that had not worked for me. This, however, I can maintain even without tracking, although I do plan on continuing to track what I eat regardless. The other great part was the numerous other things that improved like my blood pressure, my joint pain, even my sensitive teeth have gotten less sensitive.
